Public Art in Tehachapi

Why Does Public Art Matters to Tehachapi?

Public art transforms our community from a place we pass through into a place we belong to. It creates identity by telling Tehachapi’s unique story through murals, sculptures, and installations that reflect our heritage and values. It builds connection by bringing people together in shared spaces and sparking conversations. Public art strengthens our economy by attracting visitors, supporting local businesses, and establishing Tehachapi as a destination worth exploring. It inspires and educates by making culture accessible to everyone, every day, offering creativity and beauty as part of daily life rather than confined to galleries. The Tehachapi Arts Commission believes public art isn’t a luxury, it’s an essential investment in creating a community where people want to live, work, and thrive.

In November 2025, we were able to display our first sculpture in Tehachapi which was placed at the entrance of Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District's office.
