“A Good Place to Rest”
9x12 Oil on Linen Panel $750
Artist Statement:
This is another painting that began on one of the outings provided by the Art Tehachapi folks, and by the generosity of the owners of Milano Ranch. I painted one of the ranch border collies, at rest under some trees, next to a memorial which is where one of his kin was buried. The scene wasn't like this to begin with. The border collie in the painting was sitting under another tree, but told the story of the two, side by side, enjoying the view, together.
“Amber and Miguelito”
Oil 24x24 $4000
Artist Statement:
A Tehachapi resident who runs a riding stable, Ms Amber is the real deal. Beautiful and Brave, her favorite horse to ride is one her father had picked out for her, and named in honor of him. "Little Miguel" is "Miguelito". I was going to name this painting "Dream", as she's stopped along the way to look up at the hills beyond, after a good run along the foothills, but there was so much beauty in reality of this scene, I just thought being straightforward about the characters said enough. That, and her name is echoed in the color of the wild grass.
“At Ease”
8x16 Oil on Linen Panel $1000
Artist Statement:
I began "At Ease" while in fact, feeling at ease, painting the near-feral Morgan horses in Tehachapi. After these famous horses eat, play, fight, they finally go beneath a stretch of oaks to simply "be". I think they're digesting, but the feeling is certainly one of ease. I thought this is something we can all stand to use a little more in our often hectic lives.
