I was wandering around a horse show, something that I love to do. I came across this young girl and her horse and was struck by the tenderness. My first love was a horse so I recognized the bond and trust between the two.

Artist Statement:
After a wonderful Meet & Greet dinner at the Dorner Winery, I was struck by the beauty of the early evening. I love both horses and the landscape so to see them together in this beautiful light was a gift. I knew i had to paint the scene.

As the day began to recede, I began to paint the golden hills, it is the "magic hour". It was exhilarating to chase the light as the day faded. Plus I was entertained by the musician playing at the winery not to mention a wonderful glass of wine!
