“Freedom Riders Meetup at the Keene Cafe”
Acrylic 12x18 $1200
Artist Statement:
The Keene Café holds a lot of interest in the local area. It’s a stop that looks vacant but is still in use. I wanted to do a painting of it and as I examined it from my car, something was missing; it needed some life. As I ate my lunch a motorcyclist pulled in front of the café, and then another one came. Pretty soon there were around a dozen cyclists congregating outside! This was exactly what the scene needed. Before setting up to paint I went outside to meet them. They are a group of Veterans from Bakersfield, CA called the Freedom Riders.

“Rite of Passage”
Acrylic 16x22 $1600
Artist Statement:
The rodeo life is like one big family, friendly and helpful towards each other, but you have to earn your right to sit on the fence with the big boys! You’ve got to learn the ropes! Only after recovering so many cowboy hats can you cross that big arena and take your rightful place on the fence. From that perch you can see all that is going on in the arena. Pretty soon you’ll be helping catch stray cows or runaway horses, and learn to be a helping hand in just about anything that is needed.
